ALCS Game 4 Moves to Saturday With Rays’ Offense Under Pressure

ALCS Game 4 between the Rays and Guardians is scheduled for October 17 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, or October 18 at 9 a.m. in Japan, following Friday’s rain postponement. Cleveland leads the series 2–1 and can move within one win of the World Series, while Tampa Bay seeks to draw even. The Rays need more production from their leading hitters. They managed three hits and struck out 13 times in their 3–2 Game 3 loss. Junior Caminero, Yandy Díaz and Jonathan Aranda are a combined 5-for-34 with one home run and one RBI in the series. Aranda is hitless in 10 at-bats, and Caminero struck out four times in Game 3. The extra rest could help Cleveland manage its pitching. Shawn Armstrong is scheduled to open a bullpen game, with relievers receiving an additional day to recover. That includes Cade Smith, who recorded the final four outs in Game 3. Nick Martinez is scheduled to start for Tampa Bay. Cleveland will also look for more unexpected offensive contributions. Rookie Petey Halpin hit the decisive two-run homer in Game 3 despite a .326 regular-season slugging percentage. Catcher Patrick Bailey has supplied power as well, slugging .609 this postseason. With Milwaukee already waiting in the World Series, Game 4 presents a major opportunity for both clubs. Tampa Bay’s established hitters must respond, while Cleveland hopes its rested bullpen and less likely offensive heroes can deliver again.
