The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially announced a one-year, $40 million contract extension with Jaden McDaniels, keeping the versatile forward under contract through the 2029-30 season.
Entering his seventh NBA season, McDaniels is coming off a career-best 2025-26 campaign. He appeared in 73 games, averaging 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks.
McDaniels also made significant improvements offensively, shooting 51.5% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. He was one of only eight NBA players last season to average at least one steal and one block per game.
Originally selected 28th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, McDaniels was traded to Oklahoma City on draft night and then to Minnesota two days later. He has spent his entire NBA career with the Timberwolves, developing into a key contributor alongside fellow 2020 draftee Anthony Edwards.
With offseason additions including LaMelo Ball and Jonathan Kuminga, Minnesota is building a roster capable of competing for its first NBA championship. The extension secures McDaniels as an important part of the team's long-term plans.
