The Washington Wizards opened the 2026-27 NBA season with a 128-116 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, powered by impressive performances from Anthony Davis and Trae Young in their first regular-season game together.

Making his long-awaited Wizards debut, Davis delivered 34 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. Returning to NBA action after approximately nine months, he scored 18 points in the third quarter and tied Antawn Jamison's 2004 franchise record for the most points in a Wizards debut.

Young added 20 points and 13 assists, recording a double-double while committing just one turnover. Despite shooting 4-for-13 from the field and missing all six three-point attempts, he controlled Washington's offense and contributed five points and six assists in the fourth quarter.

The Wizards took control by outscoring Milwaukee 38-23 in the final period. Kyshawn George contributed 18 points, while Bilal Coulibaly and Deandre Ayton each scored 11. Bub Carrington added 10 points as Washington received contributions throughout its lineup.

Rookie AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, missed the opener with a left ankle sprain. He remains day-to-day and could make his NBA debut against the Toronto Raptors in Washington's next game.

For Milwaukee, Tyler Herro led the team with 24 points as the Bucks began their first season following Giannis Antetokounmpo's departure. Rookie Brayden Burries recorded 12 points and five rebounds in his NBA debut, but Milwaukee could not contain Washington's fourth-quarter surge.
