Luka Dončić has delivered a message to Los Angeles Lakers fans ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, making it clear that his ultimate goal is to lead the franchise to an NBA championship.
In a letter published by the Los Angeles Times on October 21, Dončić thanked the city for welcoming him since his arrival in Los Angeles and expressed confidence in the team's potential.
He emphasized that the Lakers are beginning their championship pursuit with a special roster and are determined to meet the expectations of their fans.
Dončić enters the new season as the 2025-26 NBA scoring champion. However, his previous campaign ended early after he suffered a hamstring injury on April 2, making the season opener his return to regular-season action.
With LeBron James departing for the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason, Dončić is preparing for his first full season as the Lakers' primary leader.
Los Angeles opens its season at home against the Golden State Warriors on October 21, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the franchise.
As the Lakers reshape their identity around Dončić, the Slovenian superstar hopes to turn his championship ambitions into reality.
